It's time to unpack how great and big this year was for us at the conference. It’s our second time bringing content to present, but this time we brought science.
You can have a look to our previous presentation here.
This year, we presented Lola: science applied to farming.
Lola is a platform that solves farm problems with science and hardware. We use computer vision, CNNs, ML, LLMs, and more to solve hard problems on farms like cattle counting, cattle weighing, cattle feed measurements, and more.
Part of our team presented how we solve hard problems in real time and how we architect different kinds of artificial intelligence.
Say no more. Here is our talk. Enjoy it!
A huge thanks to the Nerdearla team for putting together such a huge conference, and to all the incredible speakers who shared their knowledge for free. https://nerdearla.com/en/argentina/
Talks, talks, talks
As every year, we had such an incredible time in BsAs, and we also soaked ourselves in many different talks.
Disclaimer: I couldn’t attend many talks. Actually, I missed most of them. But I had the incredible opportunity to walk around and chat with many of the creators, founders, and core members behind projects like VLC, MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, Tor, PostgreSQL, and more.
The Nerdearla team has already published the talks, so go check them out: https://www.youtube.com/@nerdearla/videos
Security
The first one I want to mention is about GitHub branch protection and how agents can bypass it, or how to work around some of its limitations. El Pelado Nerd: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iqSXHICWa1Y
Another one was about managing SSH access. A really simple and elegant way to manage access when people need extra permissions for things like offboarding or on-call sessions. Nick Taylor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rard1glAXVA
AI / Data Science
We were really surprised by the amount of technology and architecture that Coto handles. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-bgmQu5V-o
I particularly enjoy watching talks by Hernán Wilkinson, and this one was no exception. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ljaXuoTQUM&t
Not-so-liked section
I got a bitter taste from the Google Cloud presentations.
I attended both of them, and I really regretted it because they were mostly product announcements — something you can easily watch on YouTube. I was expecting something more technical.
Nerd section
Of course, we need a proper nerd section.
First, a talk about space weather and how much our systems depend on the behavior of the Sun. Very useful for LoLa.
And finally, a walkthrough of the James Webb Space Telescope.
As a proper nerd, I thought it was incredible to learn about it.
What a lineup the Nerdearla team prepared for us this year.
See you next year! 🚀
🎉 Happy Conferences!
